As part of La Fete, Bangkok’s annual festival of French culture, King Power, Alliance Francaise and the French Embassy are hosting the free concert “East Meets West” in the Pullman Bangkok Hotel’s Glen Bar on Sunday (March 26) from 8.30pm to midnight.
The hotel is on Rangnam Road.
The concert opens with Thai indie-pop band Fwends, which includes three former members of Cloud Behind. Their debut single, the effects-laden “Fade Away”, features a more mature sound compared to the bouncy pop of the members’ previous work.
Next up is French pop singer Olivier Marguerit, who’s also a talented guitarist, bassist, pianist, flautist and trumpeter.
As a member of boy band Syd Matters, Marguerit used to perform with singer-songwriter Barbara Carlotti, famed for carrying on the chanson tradition. Marguerit’s latest solo project, called “O”, combines English and French in pop melodies with a folk feeling.
Admission is free, but you can book a seat at (02) 680 9999 or www.PullmanBangkokKingpower.com.
