A little night music

Jazz vocalist Cynthia Scott and the Randy Cannon Group will take the stage at The Living Room of Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit from May 16 to June 19.

For more than four decades, the Arkansas-born Scott has been entertaining music lovers with am eclectic mix of jazz, blues, R& and gospel music.
Over the years, she honed her craft with some of the best musicians on the jazz scene. In 1972, Ray Charles asked her to be a Raelette – one of the select women chosen to be his back-up singers. Scott worked with him for two years and also toured around Europe with Oscar Peterson with Joe Pass and the Count Basie Orchestra with Joe Williams.
“I learned from Ray Charles to tell the story and do it your way, with all your roots included. I knew Ray’s spirit because when you work with someone as closely as I did with Ray, you can learn so much,” she says.
Last year, Scott was inducted into the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame, an honour that marks a lifetime of outstanding achievements and dedication to jazz.
At The Living Room, Scott will perform with the Randy Cannon Group renowned for its power-packed performances. Randy’s mesmerising piano playing is complemented by outstanding drummer Willard Dyson and Thailand’s leading bass player Therdsak Wongvichien.
Admission is Bt300 per person and is waived for guests spending Bt1,000 or more. Find out more at (02) 649 8353 or email [email protected].
