Continuing through June 6, the exhibition is centred on Hua Lamphong station where Rammy spent time taking a range of black-and-white photographs. He switched to colour when he found himself on a quiet platform at the far end of the station just as a short train pulled in one day in 2015.
He discovered that the photographs he took that day had a very different feel to his previous work and it was the spark that he had been looking for. He returned every day for the next six months to photograph in that same window of time on the same platform.
“Platform 10” premiered at the S Gallery, Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit in late 2016, at which time the book of “Platform 10” was also launched.
“Early every morning, a short three-cabin train makes its daily 20-minute stop. At the same time the station awakes, and for what seems like a few choreographed moments, the morning light reveals its characters offering a magical and brief insight into their lives: passengers and station workers go about their business together in syncopation,” Rammy explains.
“These moments were photographed every day over a six-month period to create a window into this private world of rhythm and pauses, colours and emotions, bustle and tranquillity, as people alight from and board their train on Platform 10.”
