Cassette creations
Pongsak “Aof” Ratanaphong, one of Thailand’s most successful singers, has been busy in recent week, rehearsing day-in, day-out for his concert, “Once The Cassette Series”, which takes place on Sunday (April 30) at Scala Theatre.
“I try to bring something special to every concert and ‘Once The Cassette Series’ is no exception,” says Aof.
“The audience will be able to hear songs that are part of their memories. What will make them special is that these familiar songs are different from the originals. They have a more modern sound but everyone will still be able to sing along with me. The songs speak to love, happiness and sadness.
“Many interesting songs were composed during the cassette era and are still listened to today because they have catchy lyrics and melodies. Production wasn’t as easy as it is in today’s digital world. I’m excited to be singing Thai golden oldies from the cassette era and want everyone to come and dance with me.”
Aof will perform such popular numbers as Company’s “Klub Kham Sia” and Christina Aguilar’s “Plik Lock” as well as his hit, “Jaak Khon Rak Kao.”
