Federer sets record of ninth title in Halle

Roger Federer won the battle of generation as he tamed young gun Alexander Zverev of Germany 6-1 6-3 in just 52 minutes for his 9th crown in Halle.

This was their third meeting and the second win for Roger, who lost to Sascha in the semi-final here 12 months ago.

Everything was on Roger's racquet, he served great and had a full control over the rallies, attacking in the right moments and leaving Zverev with no chance to make a turnaround and earn the more positive result. Federer served great, placing the first serves nicely, and he played against only 1 break point.

On the other hand, he broke Zverev 4 times to stay in front all the time, winning 50% of the return points against the nervous youngster, who failed to deliver his usual level we saw from him in 2017. Roger raced to a 4-0 lead, breaking Sascha in games 1 and 3 to gain the authority in the first set, and he sealed it with the third break in the game 7.

Zverev slipped into the net in game 3 of the second set while chasing a drop shot and that didn't help him either, but with or without that, Federer was in a dominant mode, he saved that lone break point at the start of the second set to drop just one point in the next 4 service games, breaking Sascha at 15 in game 6 to propel himself over the finish line.

This was the 92nd ATP title for Roger and the 4th in 2017 from just 6 tournaments played! .
