Outrageous claims

Chavalit Wannawijitr (Letters, Saturday) offers a string of bizarre non sequiturs that have no literary or logical bridges to join them together. He emphatically doesn’t know what he’s writing about.

For example, he informs us that “America has a free press against which no one, including the president of the United States, is ‘safe’ from being exposed if they do wrong”.
I absolutely disagree with this outrageous claim. That’s the prerogative of the writer in question, but is seriously precarious.
The detached thinking continues, by immediately offering this completely estranged rejoinder “Nowhere else in the world but Thailand could Mr [Eric] Bahrt use such words as ‘fools’ and ‘barbarians’ to describe his hosts, who in this country happen to be extra-broadminded.” So?
We also get this totally inappropriate Orwellian misquote, “No human beings, regardless of the colour of their skins, are more human than others. Remember that.” I doubt that Bahrt, for all his faults, would stray from what is moral, and therefore needs no reminder.
