Trump lit the fuse but Israelis are suffering the explosion

As a neutral observer and historian, I cannot help but point out another absurdity regarding the always absurd Middle East issue.

It was President Trump who announced the American recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, triggering impotent Islamic fury, yet for some reason it is Israel that is getting all the blame for this. This is proven by the vicious riots in the West Bank and Gaza targeting Israel, as well as the world media’s blaming of Israel for its capital being recognised.
The false blame comes as no surprise, since being anti-Israel is trendy, but the irony in this development cannot be ignored. Israel has done nothing to arouse anger, other than cast its vote at the UN and allow its ambassador to make another speech in his broken English. But still the world is up in arms against Israel (as well as Trump). One cannot in all fairness single out the Israelis for their pervasive siege mentality and their extreme right-wing government’s intransigence.
With Guatemala on course to move its embassy to Jerusalem, it seems that Trump will not be alone after all.
