A Tin Man in thrall to the Wizard of Xi
Re: “China’s government is being undermined by a global conspiracy”, March 22.
To borrow a phrase from the writer of this letter, Yingwai Suchaovanich, I had to “laugh my pants off” when he suggested that Michael Setter is “part of [a] group working on the payroll of a foreign power”.
If anyone is on the payroll of a foreign power, it is you, sir, as you continually defend the communist government of China from all sides. Why else would you continually defend this corrupt and inhumane form of government? And if you are not on the payroll of a foreign government, then why don’t you move to China if you like the country so much? After all, this is Thailand, not China, sir.
As for Mr Setter, he criticises not only the Chinese government but also other inhumane regimes which stifle people’s freedoms. If he belongs to any group, it is an NGO (non-government organisation). This is not a man with any political agenda. But he does have a lot of something that the Tin Man from “The Wizard of Oz” was searching for. Heart.
