K-pop girl group Blackpink has decided to renew their contracts with their agency YG Entertainment, but not individual contracts, according to an exclusive report in South Korean media outlet Munhwa Ilbo on Sunday.

This means they will continue their group activities with the agency, but are free to sign up with other representatives for individual promotions, said the report.

The report added that two members had already signed a contract “agreeing to continue Blackpink’s activities,” without naming the members.

YG Entertainment reacted to the report, stating, “We are still in discussions. Nothing has been decided yet.”

Commenting on the exclusive contracts, Sports Chosun quoted YG Entertainment’s statement, which reads: “We are negotiating with the artists regarding their exclusive contracts. The final outcome will be revealed through the document regarding major management issues related to investments.”

Dubbed the “biggest girl group in the world”, the band consists of members Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lalisa “Lisa” Manoban, the only member from Thailand.

YG Entertainment has remained silent on the band’s future, despite their seven-year contract having apparently reached the end of its term in August.

The agency’s stock price instantly plummeted by 13% on September 21, when it was reported that only Rosé may stay with the firm.

However, CNBC reported on Monday that YG shares had climbed 3% after Blackpink reportedly agreed to continue as a group.
