Patty becomes first Thai rider to win international dressage competition

Suphajit “Patty” Vuntanadit became the first dressage rider from Thailand to win first place in an international competition with her performance in the CDI 1* Intermediate 1 Freestyle at Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida, en route to qualifying for the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

Rising star Patty proudly carried the Thai flag with her equine partner Wall Street JV to win first place in the CDI1* Intermediate 1 Freestyle class and achieved her personal best score of 70.79%. Her triumph in becoming the first Thai dressage rider to top the podium in an international competition followed her impressive performances in Germany, where she came third in the Prix St Georges and Intermediate 1, and in Poland where she was third in the Intermediate 1 Freestyle in 2022.

In addition, the 22-year-old “Patty” Suphajit has been selected as one of the five youth dressage riders to participate in the Programme Of Excellence organized by CHIO Aachen in Germany to pave the way for young and talented riders from all over the globe into top competition sport. The programme includes exclusive training sessions with Head coach, Isabell Werth, the world's most successful dressage rider of all time (7x Olympic champion) from September 2022 to April 2023.

On February 9-12, 2023, “Patty” Suphajit has competed in the Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida, USA  in a 3-day Small Tour level in CDI 1* including Prix St. Georges, Intermediate 1, and Intermediate 1 Freestyle, which is the same category to be contested in the Asian Games later this year. She continues to produce impressive performance with 68.09% in Prix St. Georges, 69.56% in Intermediate 1 which is her personal best, and 70.79% in Intermediate 1 Freestyle achieving first place. She is the only Asian rider in this competition and is the first Thai rider to achieve first place in any international tournament.
 
“Patty” Suphajit continues her intensive trainings to prepare for her competitions in USA. Afterward she will return to Europe in the middle of year to continue her training in preparations to qualify for the 2023 Asian Games in China in September.
