New faces for Football Association as Somyot resigns
Pol. Gen. Somyot Poompanmoung has officially tendered his resignation from the position of President of the Football Association of Thailand, effective February 8, 2024.
The election committee of the Football Association of Thailand will convene an ordinary general meeting to elect a new board of directors.
This decision stems from Somyot’s expressed intention to resign from his position at 12.30 pm on that date, which will lead to the entire board of directors vacating their positions.
During the meeting held on November 15, 2023, the board of directors passed a resolution scheduling the election of a new board. The election is set to start at 1 pm on the same day and will continue until all members have been chosen.
The meeting venue will be on the second floor of the new Football Association of Thailand headquarters, situated behind the Rajamangala National Stadium.
With the judicial body also set to leave their positions on March 10, 2024, the board of directors has passed a resolution to hold elections for the judicial body on the same day to minimise inconvenience and travel expenses for member clubs participating in two separate meetings.
The members of the newly elected judicial body will assume their duties on March 11, 2024.
