Yemeni arrested for allegedly framing ex-Thai girlfriend in drug case

Police have arrested a Yemeni man on charges of framing his former Thai girlfriend in drug trafficking.

Immigration Bureau commissioner Pol Lt-General Sompong Chingduang held a press conference on Thursday to announce the arrest of Adnun Ali Nassaur, 43.
He was arrested late last month under two arrest warrants issued by the Surin Court and the Takua Pa Court for allegedly hiring Thai accomplices to frame his ex-girlfriend, identified by police only as Wilawan. Police obtained the arrest warrants following months of investigations after Wilawan and her relative were earlier arrested in two drug cases before police later dropped the charges.
Adnun was arrested at a house in Tambon Tatum in Surin’s Sangkha district. Four Thai alleged accomplices have been arrested and another was still elusive.
On January 21, Wilawan’s relative, Udon, was arrested in Surin while driving a pickup truck owned by Wilawan. Police checked the pickup following a tip-off and found 135 meth pills in a plastic bag hanging on the back of the pickup.
Udon denied any knowledge of the drug, saying four men who sought his help to pull their vehicle a day earlier, might have planted the drug there.
Then on February 19, Wilawan was arrested in Phang Nga and 55 meth pills were found hidden in her bag.
Wilawan said the drug might have been planted by her ex-Yemeni boyfriend. She said the ex-boyfriend became angry after they separated and he tried to sue her for the return of some assets but he lost the court case.
Wilawan said the Yemeni invited her to meet him again on February 14 and promised her a gift of Bt500,000 for spending time together to see if they could be reunited.
She said the man instead gave her only Bt28,000 and after they separated in Phang Nga on February 19, she was arrested while taking a taxi to the Phuket airport to fly back home to Surin.
Police conducted an investigation and found evidence that the Yemeni had plotted two drug planting cases and obtained arrest warrants for him.
