Immigration Police chief Lt-General Sompong Chingduang on Wednesday (October 30) announced the arrest of a 27-year-old Omani national, Saif (last name withheld), who is wanted by Interpol for financial fraud and swindling via online transaction.

“This arrest is a result of cooperation between Royal Thai Police and Oman Police Department to track down this man wanted by Interpol who fled his home country for Thailand,” said Sompong. “His crimes have affected dozens of Omanis and led to total damages of more than Bt10 million.”
Sompong added that after fleeing Oman, Saif moved from country to country in Asean region while still continuing to cheat his countrymen.
Saif was arrested at a residence in Phuket province and immediately sent back to Oman. “Immigration Police is committed to preventing foreign criminals and those wanted by police from entering the country. If you have information regarding any such individuals, please contact the hotline 1178,” said Sompong.
