Mae Hong Son closes trade borders with Myanmar

The governor of Mae Hong Son on Saturday (March 21) ordered the temporary closure of its five border areas specially opened for trade between Thailand and Myanmar as part of the policy to curb the spread of Covid-19.

On Friday, the Interior Ministry had asked the governors of border provinces to consider temporarily closing all permanent crossings to slow the escalation of the Covid-19 situation. It also suggested closing all areas where temporary access is permitted for trade in goods.
Mae Hong Son Governor Suwapong Kittipatpiboon said the points of entry at Banhauiphung, Nampiangdin, Huay Ton Nun, Sao Hin, and Mae Sam Lab have been closed
