The products consist of 10,000 N95 face masks, 100,000 surgical masks, 834 Covid-19 nucleic acid diagnostic kits (PCR-fluorescence probing) and 2,000 personal protective equipment suits.
“This first batch of products has been donated from the Chinese government,” said Xin. “More will be delivered, which the Thai government has bought from China under a G2G contract.”
“We will also urge Chinese companies that have invested in Thailand to donate additional medical equipment to show our gratitude to the Thai government for taking care of Chinese tourists who had visited Thailand earlier and had become sick,” he added.
Meanwhile, Anutin said China was a friend of Thailand who never turned down requests for help. “Tomorrow [March 25], the Alibaba Foundation headed by Jack Ma will donate additional sanitary face masks to Thailand, which will be handed out to the Government Pharmaceutical Organisation, the Department of Medical Services, the Department of Disease Control, as well as public and private hospitals,” he said.
“I would like to urge Thais to strictly follow the Public Health Ministry’s suggestions, including maintaining a social distance, avoiding public activity and undergoing self-quarantine at home to stay safe from the virus,” Anutin said.
“Today, the Covid-19 death toll in Thailand has risen to four, but still within the 5-10 per cent range of total infections,” he added.
