Department head Prapot Kunthong said the university teamed up with the Siriraj Institute of Clinical Research to develop the cabinet.
“We received a budget of Bt85,000 from the university’s Faculty of Engineering and equipment from Camfil [Thailand], a leading air-filter manufacturer,” he said.
Prapot said the doctor works from inside the cabinet to screen patients for Covid-19.
“This cabinet consists of light, air-conditioning and an air filter to maintain positive pressure inside the cabinet. Doctors can also take blood samples from patients,” he said, adding that the cabinet will certainly help reduce the risk of contracting Covid-19 especially when patients cough or sneeze.

He said the cabinet has been set up in Siriraj Hospital since May to screen cancer patients before they head to the operating room.
“Doctors at the hospital are satisfied with this cabinet,” Prapot said. “In the future, the hospital will use it to screen other patients as well.”
He added that the team will continue manufacturing more of the cabinets to meet the needs of medical personnel and reduce imports.
