BTS demands to be paid for Green Line extensions

The BTS Green Line extension – Wat Phra Si Mahathat to Khukhot – will be officially opened in a ceremony presided over by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on December 16 as scheduled, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has announced.

Meanwhile, as Bangkok governor Aswin Kwanmuang was following up on the extension’s development, BTS demanded the payment of Bt8 billion that is outstanding for the Bearing-Kheha and Mo Chit-Saphan Mai-Khukhot extensions.

The Bearing-Kheha extension opened in December 2018 and commuters have been using it for free since then.

BMA has put in for government funding for the Green Line, but so far there is no response as to whether the government will subsidise this project, and how much it will cover.
