Thailand Covid-19 update: 187 domestic patients among 212 new  cases

The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced 212 new cases on Saturday.

 

The new cases included 187 Thai nationals, six migrant workers, 14 people in quarantine facilities and five people who had arrived from foreign countries and were found infected outside state quarantine.

 

Of the new domestic cases, 46 were in Samut Sakhon, 40 in Chonburi, 27 in Bangkok, 29 in Samut Prakarn and 18 in Ang Thong.

 

Nong Bua Lamphu became the 58th province to report a case after a migrant worker tested positive. Other infected workers included four in Bangkok and one in Nonthaburi.

 

Of the cases in quarantine facilities, 13 were Thai nationals -- four arrivals from Germany, three from Turkey, three from the United Arab Emirates, two from the US, and one from the UK. The only foreigner was a Ugandan from his homeland.

 

Of those who had arrived from foreign countries and contracted Covid-19 outside quarantine facilities, three were Thai nationals and two were Myanmar nationals.

 

As of Saturday, 291 patients have recovered and been discharged.

 

The number of confirmed cases in Thailand has risen to 10,053 – 7,933 of which have been contracted domestically, including 2,748 migrant workers and 2,120 returnees. So far, 5,546 have recovered and been discharged, while the death toll remains at 67.

 

According to Worldometer, the number of confirmed cases as of Saturday had risen to 89.35 million (up 826,365), 64 million have recovered, 25.35 million are active cases (108,897 in severe condition) and 1.92 million have died (up 14,788).

 

Thailand ranks 129th in the global list of most cases. The US tops the list with 22.45 million, followed by India 10.43 million, Brazil 8.01 million, Russia 3.35 million and the UK 2.95 million.
