Two-thirds of 92 new Covid-19 cases in Samut Sakhon

The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) on Sunday reported 92 new cases, of whom six are overseas travellers in quarantine facilities.

Of the 48 exposed to the disease while visiting high-risk areas, Samut Sakhon had the most cases with 33, followed by seven cases in Pathum Thani and three in Ang Thong.

Meanwhile, proactive testing led to the discovery of 38 cases, mostly in Samut Sakhon (27), Pathum Thani (10), and Ang Thong (1)

Of the overseas travellers found to be infected in quarantine facilities, two Thais had returned from Oman and the United States, a Briton had arrived from Brazil, a Bahraini from Kuwait, a German, and a Zimbabwe national from their respective countries.

Meanwhile, 156 patients have recovered and been discharged.

As of Sunday, the number of confirmed cases in Thailand had risen to 25,415. Of these, 24,285 had been contracted locally, including 14,393 who were found via proactive testing, while 2,696 were overseas travellers. So far, 24,285 have recovered and been discharged, 1,047 patients are still in hospitals, and 83 have died.

According to Worldometer, as of 10am on Sunday, the number of confirmed cases globally had risen to 111.64 million (up by 372,396), 86.81 million have recovered, 22.3 million are active cases (94,448 in severe condition) and 2.47 million have died (up by 8,446).

Thailand ranks 113th on the global list of most cases, which is topped by the US with 28.7 million, followed by India 11 million, Brazil 10.13 million, Russia 4.15 million and the United Kingdom 4.1 million.
