A 2.9-magnitude earthquake struck Chiang Rai’s Mae Suai district on Thursday afternoon, the Meteorological Department reported.
The department’s Earthquake Observation Division said the quake occurred at 1.32pm in Tambon Si Thoi. It said the quake was at a depth of 5 kilometres, with the epicentre at 19.647°N, 99.367°E.
The division said the tremor caused buildings in the area to sway slightly. No other damage was reported.
