Three expressways, 63 toll plazas go free on August 12

EXAT will waive tolls at 63 toll plazas on three expressways across Bangkok and surrounding areas from 12.01am to midnight on August 12

Motorists will be able to use three expressways in Bangkok and surrounding areas free of charge on August 12, with tolls waived at a total of 63 plazas for National Mother’s Day.

The Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) said the exemption marks the birthday anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother and is intended to make travel easier during the public holiday.

EXAT described the measure as a 24-hour exemption, running from 12.01am until midnight on August 12.

The exemption applies to:

  • Chalerm Maha Nakhon Expressway: Din Daeng–Bang Na–Dao Khanong route, covering 21 toll plazas.
  • Si Rat Expressway: Chaeng Watthana–Bang Khlo–Srinagarindra route, covering 32 toll plazas.
  • Udon Ratthaya Expressway: Bang Pa-in–Pak Kret route, covering 10 toll plazas.

EXAT said the toll waiver follows government and Transport Ministry policy and arrangements under amended concession agreements involving EXAT, BEM and Northern Bangkok Expressway Company Limited (NECL).

The exemption is intended to reduce travel costs, limit vehicle build-up at toll plazas and improve traffic flow for people travelling during the public holiday.
