DDPM alerts four Nan districts to flash-flood risk amid heavy rain
DDPM cell-broadcast warnings urge residents in four Nan districts to prepare for flash floods and landslides, while 54 provinces and Bangkok remain on alert
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) sent cell-broadcast warnings to residents in four districts of Nan on Friday (September 4, 2026), following persistent heavy rain that increased the risk of flash floods, forest run-off and landslides.
One warning covered Bo Kluea district, where heavy rain was continuing.
A separate message was sent to residents in Thung Chang, Chiang Klang and Pua districts.
The alerts warned people living beside canals and rivers, in low-lying areas and near hillsides to watch for rapidly rising water, overflowing waterways and mudslides.
Residents were advised to:
- Monitor weather and local conditions closely.
- Move household belongings to higher ground.
- Relocate vehicles away from flood-prone areas.
- Secure valuables and important documents.
- Remain alert to electrical hazards.
- Assist children, older people, people with disabilities and other vulnerable residents.
- Evacuate to a safe location if they live in a high-risk area.
- Contact village leaders, subdistrict heads or local administrative organisations if assistance is required.
Wider alert covers 54 provinces and Bangkok
The DDPM also placed 54 provinces and Bangkok on alert for flash floods, forest run-off, mudslides and waterlogging from September 4 to 7.
The affected areas are:
Northern region, 17 provinces: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Phrae, Nan, Uttaradit, Tak, Sukhothai, Kamphaeng Phet, Phitsanulok, Phichit, Phetchabun, Nakhon Sawan and Uthai Thani.
Northeastern region, 20 provinces: Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram, Surin, Si Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchathani.
Central and eastern areas, 17 provinces: Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Lop Buri, Saraburi, Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chanthaburi, Trat, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram and Samut Prakan.
