Royal Irrigation Department (RID) adjusted water releases from Khun Dan Prakan Chon Dam in Nakhon Nayok at 8am on October 6, 2026, setting the spillway gate opening at 25cm as reservoir storage reached 96% of capacity. RID said the adjustment was intended to create space for additional inflows ahead of possible monsoon-driven heavy rain forecast for October 10–14. Residents in vulnerable areas were urged to remain vigilant and follow water conditions closely.
Khun Dan reservoir holds 215.79 million cubic metres
Khun Dan Prakan Chon Dam held 215.79 million cubic metres of water, equivalent to 96% of its storage capacity, according to RID’s morning update. The reservoir’s water level stood at 108.67 metres above mean sea level.
The high storage level followed persistent rainfall over the upstream forests of Khao Yai and the surrounding catchment, leaving limited space for further inflows.
Spillway gate opening set at 25cm
RID revised its water-management arrangements at Khun Dan Prakan Chon Dam to lower the reservoir level in advance of the next forecast spell of rain.
The spillway settings announced in the morning update were:
- Gate opening: increased to 25cm.
- Proportion of full gate lift: 4%.
The adjustment is intended to maintain sufficient storage space to receive water flowing into the reservoir during the forecast rain period.
River at Khao Nang Buat Bridge remains 3.83 metres below banks
The Nakhon Nayok River remained 3.83 metres below the riverbanks at the monitoring point at Khao Nang Buat Bridge, according to RID’s update.
RID said downstream conditions could still accommodate the releases. Residents in at-risk areas were nevertheless advised to stay alert and monitor developments around the clock as further rain could increase inflows.
