The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s Environment Department has announced temporary restrictions at Benjakitti Park from October 11 to 18, 2026.
The changes support security measures for the 2026 Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group.
The park will remain open from 4.30am to 10pm as usual during this period, with limited entry and exit points, changes to the use of some areas and temporary suspension of certain activities.
Visitors should check the restrictions and plan their journeys before visiting.
The 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings are scheduled to take place in Bangkok from October 12 to 18.
Under the city administration’s announcement, the park restrictions begin one day before the meetings.
Four gates at Benjakitti Park will be open for entry and exit during the restriction period:
Visitors should plan their routes to use the open gates and look out for notices within the park.
The city administration has announced that parking for all vehicle types within the park will be suspended during this period.
Cycling will also be suspended because of changes to the use of parts of the cycle route.
Water sports around the jetty for duck pedal boats will also be temporarily suspended.
Visitors planning to cycle or take part in water activities during the restriction period should adjust their plans.
The city administration recommends travelling by rail.
Visitors can take the Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS) Skytrain to Asok station or the Metropolitan Rapid Transit (MRT) to Sukhumvit station, then walk to Benjakitti Park via Ratchadaphisek Road.
Public transport will provide an alternative way to reach the park while parking for all vehicle types is suspended.
During the restriction period, visitors will be required to undergo security screening before entering the park.
The city administration asks them to follow staff instructions and pay close attention to notices within the grounds.
The city administration said the changes were intended to support security measures at an international level for the meetings.
It apologised for the inconvenience and thanked the public for their cooperation in welcoming participants from around the world.
