The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) issued a warning at 5pm on Friday (October 9, 2026) for heavy to very heavy rain in parts of Thailand through October 13.
Unsettled weather is forecast during this period, with thundershowers, gusty winds, hail and isolated heavy to very heavy rain.
The affected regions are as follows:
As the rainy season draws to a close, a high-pressure system or cool air mass from China is expected to extend over upper Thailand.
Easterly and southeasterly winds are bringing moisture from the South China Sea into the Northeast, the East and the Gulf of Thailand.
The southwest monsoon continues to prevail over the Andaman Sea, while a monsoon trough lies across the South.
The department warned of dangers from thundershowers, gusty winds, heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rainfall.
These conditions could cause flash floods and rapid runoff from higher ground, particularly on foothill slopes near waterways and in lowlands, with low-lying areas also at risk of waterlogging.
People should avoid open spaces and areas under large trees or near unstable billboards.
Waves off the East and both coasts of the South are forecast at about 1 metre, rising above 2 metres in areas with thundershowers.
Mariners in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea should check their routes, proceed with caution and avoid sailing through those areas.
People should plan their daily activities and travel carefully during the warning period to stay safe and reduce potential impacts.
The department urged the public to follow its announcements and obtain updates through its website or by calling 0-2399-4012-13 or 1182, available 24 hours a day.
The department’s 24-hour outlook predicts isolated heavy rain in the South.
Upper Thailand is expected to see little rain overall, with isolated heavy rain still forecast in the eastern part of the Northeast and in the East.
A high-pressure system or cool air mass covers the upper North and upper Northeast.
Easterly and southeasterly winds bring moisture into the eastern part of the Northeast and the East, while the monsoon trough also crosses the Gulf of Thailand.
