The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has warned of isolated heavy rain and flash-flood risks in parts of Thailand, with thundershowers forecast over 70% of Bangkok and nearby areas. The forecast, issued at 5pm on October 13, 2026, covers the period from 6pm that day until 6pm on October 14, Thai time.
The TMD identified the lower Central region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, the East and the upper South as areas of particular concern. Heavy and accumulated rainfall could trigger flash floods and runoff, especially along waterways near foothills and in low-lying areas.
A high-pressure system, or cool air mass, from China continues to cover northeastern Thailand and the South China Sea, according to the TMD. The system is driving easterly and southeasterly winds that carry moisture from the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand into upper Thailand.
