Floods persist in 22 Thai provinces and three Bangkok districts

Flooding affects 1.83 million people in 22 Thai provinces and Bangkok as water levels recede and officials accelerate relief and recovery work

  • Flooding persists across 22 Thai provinces and three districts in Bangkok, affecting over 604,000 households and 1.8 million people.
  • The situation was caused by a combination of prolonged heavy rainfall and water flowing south from northern regions, which led to overflowing rivers.
  • Despite the ongoing flooding, water levels are reportedly falling in all affected areas, and authorities are conducting relief and recovery operations.

Flooding persists in 22 Thai provinces and three eastern Bangkok districts, affecting 604,265 households and 1,830,946 people, although water levels are falling in every affected area, according to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM).

DDPM director-general Nirat Pongsitthaworn said on October 19, 2026, that prolonged heavy to very heavy rainfall, combined with water flowing south from the North into the Central region, had caused rivers to overflow and left widespread standing floodwater.

The department’s disaster operations centre reported at 6am that flooding affected 88 districts, 715 subdistricts and 5,435 villages in the provinces, alongside three Bangkok districts covering 16 subdistricts.

Authorities are continuing relief operations while preparing recovery measures as conditions improve.

Where conditions have improved, officials have been told to work with local authorities and relevant agencies to assess damage to homes, farmland and public infrastructure.

The findings are to be used to compile records of affected residents and accelerate financial assistance under the relevant eligibility criteria, Finance Ministry regulations and applicable laws.
