The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) issued Weather Advisory No. 6 (265/2026) at 5pm Thai time on October 19, 2026, warning of heavy to very heavy rain in parts of Thailand through October 25.
The TMD warned that intense and accumulated rainfall could cause flash floods, overflowing waterways, sudden run-off and landslides, particularly on foothill slopes near waterways and in low-lying areas. Residents in affected areas should also beware of strong gusts.
Southern and eastern Thailand are forecast to experience continuous rain during October 19–20, with isolated heavy to very heavy downpours, according to the TMD.
Rainfall is expected to increase during October 21–25 in the lower Northeast, the Central region including Bangkok and surrounding provinces, the East and the upper South. The TMD forecasts isolated heavy to very heavy rain and gusty winds in these regions.
The TMD advised people in affected areas to plan daily activities and journeys carefully and avoid routes prone to repeated flooding, particularly low-lying stretches where water can accumulate.
A monsoon trough lies across the central part of southern Thailand, while the southwest monsoon is prevailing over the lower Andaman Sea, according to the TMD.
The TMD also expects another high-pressure system, or cold air mass, from China to extend over the upper North, the upper Northeast and the South China Sea, bringing easterly winds over Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand.
Waves in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand are forecast to exceed three metres in areas affected by thunderstorms, the TMD warned. All vessels should proceed cautiously and avoid sailing through thunderstorms.
The TMD’s daily outlook for October 19–25 identifies the following provinces and areas at risk of heavy or very heavy rainfall.
