Thai Airways cancels Jakarta flights after Indonesian volcano erupts
Soekarno-Hatta International Airport suspended more than 200 flights and extended the flight suspension until 1.30pm on Sunday (September 6, 2026).

Reuters reported on Sunday (September 6, 2026) that Indonesia’s powerful Anak Krakatau volcano, located between Java and Sumatra, had been erupting and sending ash and smoke skywards since Friday (September 4, 2026).
The eruption caused widespread disruption, forcing Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta’s main airport, to suspend more than 200 flights that day.
The airport said on Instagram that it had suspended flight operations until 9.30am local time on Sunday because of volcanic ash.
It later extended the suspension until 1.30pm local time the same day.
Thai Airways International Public Company Limited also announced that its flights had been affected by the volcanic eruption in Indonesia.
The airline said the eruption of the Krakatau volcano in Indonesia had affected flight operations and travel safety, making it necessary to cancel four flights between Bangkok and Jakarta on Sunday:
- TG433 Bangkok – Jakarta, 8am–11.35am
- TG434 Jakarta – Bangkok, 12.35pm–4.05pm
- TG435 Bangkok – Jakarta, 2.20pm–5.55pm
- TG436 Jakarta – Bangkok, 7pm–10.30pm
Thai Airways said it had notified affected passengers and made arrangements to facilitate their travel in accordance with the company’s conditions.
The airline apologised for the inconvenience and thanked passengers for their understanding and co-operation.
