Asara on a plate

With the Gulf of Thailand as the backdrop and a wide selection of international main dishes
and desserts, the tranquil Kampu restaurant in Hua Hin is a perfect place to enjoy a quiet
lunch or dinner.

One of the outlets at the five-star Asara Villa & Suite, the two-storey pavilion is decorated
with natural wood tables, chairs and comfy sofas and can accommodate 100 guests. The menu
offers a selection of more than 100 western and Asian favourites including duck Landaise in
red wine sauce served with morels and grilled lobster salad served with capsicum sauce.

“Most of our international dishes are prepared French-style. The duck and lobster are
favourites with customers,” says chef de partie Kajohnsak Yingnakorn. “We use top quality
lamb from New Zealand and Australia with morel mushrooms direct from France.”

Guests also appreciate the traditional flavours of Kajohnsak’s local dishes. Must-tries are poo
mah pad pong karee- sauteed blue crab legs served with yellow curry sauce and gai pad med
mamuang - stir-fried chicken breast with cashew nuts served with capsicum, black
peppercorns, sauteed with oyster and soy sauce.

Equally delicious are the phla goong- a spicy lemongrass salad served with fresh grilled sea
prawns marinated with fish sauce, sugar cane and chilli and the yam woon sen talay - spicy
grass noodle salad with squid, mussels and prawns mixed with coriander, tomato and spring
onions.

Popular with diners after a strenuous day at the beach are the New Zealand rack of lamb for
Bt620, Tiscinese salad for Bt290 and the three steps sea bass fillet for Bt520.

End the meal with the Asara five plates featuring mango sorbet, caramel mousse, pineapple
cream, chocolate moelleux and papaya mille feuille for Bt310 then toast the chef with this
month’s special – an apple melon martini priced at Bt300.
