BANGKOK —The Office of the Permanent Secretary, The Ministry of Commerce, opened the Thailand Local SDGs Plus Expo 2026, bringing together 200 high-potential Thai entrepreneurs from across the country in a comprehensive platform designed to promote sustainable trade, business development and new market opportunities.
The three-day event features product exhibitions and retail sales, Business Matching, a Design & Innovation Clinic, and the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) between private-sector partners. The Expo aims to connect Thai entrepreneurs with new commercial opportunities while inviting the public to embrace the concept of “Shopping with Purpose” from 21–23 August 2026 at Hall 7, LG Floor, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC), Bangkok.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Ms. Bunjongjitt Angsusingh, Advisor to the Minister of Commerce, and attended by Sub Lt. Chakra Yodmani, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Ministry of Commerce), senior executives of the Ministry of Commerce, representatives from the private sector, entrepreneurs and members of the media.
Ms. Bunjongjitt said the Ministry of Commerce has continued to advance Thailand’s trade economy under its “MOC+” vision, with a strong focus on enhancing the competitiveness of regional entrepreneurs across all 76 provinces.
As global trade evolves, consumers are increasingly looking beyond price and product quality to consider environmental and social responsibility. The Ministry therefore places strong emphasis on raising awareness among regional entrepreneurs and encouraging them to integrate sustainability into their businesses.
The goal is to transform sustainability from a challenge into a competitive advantage that enables Thai businesses to compete more effectively in global markets.
The Ministry of Commerce will also compile and disseminate information on SDGs-related products to entrepreneurs and the public, while working with private-sector networks to expand both domestic and international market channels and strengthen consumer confidence in environmentally responsible Thai products.
Supporting Thai products that are produced with consideration for the environment and society, she added, can help strengthen local economies and contribute to long-term sustainable growth.
The Thailand Local SDGs Plus Expo 2026 also demonstrates the potential of Thai entrepreneurs to become internationally competitive players in the growing global market for sustainable products.
One of the Expo’s key objectives is to transform a traditional trade fair into a platform for opportunity, where entrepreneurs can develop their capabilities, build networks and access new markets.
Through Business Matching, local producers are connected with potential buyers and business partners, while the Design & Innovation Clinic provides professional consultation on product development, branding, packaging and business image enhancement.
These services are designed to increase competitiveness and help entrepreneurs expand into both domestic and international markets.
Another major highlight of the opening day was the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) between private-sector partners, witnessed by the ceremony chair and the Deputy Permanent Secretary for Commerce.
The agreements reflect tangible business connections generated through the Expo and mark another step towards building stronger commercial networks for Thai entrepreneurs.
Participating businesses come from Bangkok and provinces including Samut Prakan, Pathum Thani, Chiang Rai, Khon Kaen and Maha Sarakham, highlighting the Expo’s role as a nationwide platform linking regional entrepreneurs with potential business partners.
The Expo also features a special exhibition titled “Thai Wisdom Towards Sustainable Fashion,” highlighting the royal vision of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya in preserving, developing and adding value to Thai textiles and traditional handicrafts.
Through the principle of “Preserve, Sustain and Build Upon,” Thai craftsmanship is being reinterpreted through contemporary design, helping traditional textiles and handicrafts become more relevant to modern consumers and gain greater recognition in international markets.
Visitors can also shop directly from entrepreneurs from across Thailand, with products ranging from food and beverages to fashion, jewellery, textiles, apparel, home decoration, household products, health and beauty items.
The event therefore serves both as a business platform and a major shopping destination where consumers can discover high-quality Thai products directly from their producers.
The Expo has been designed as an all-day experience for visitors of all ages.
Every day from 1:00 p.m., visitors can join knowledge-sharing sessions and discussions, followed by creative workshops such as pot painting and planting activities and Seed Bomb workshops, where participants create seed balls that can later grow into plants.
The programme also includes special promotional sessions from participating entrepreneurs and live music performances in the evening.
Thailand Local SDGs Plus Expo 2026 is therefore more than a trade exhibition. It brings together markets, innovation, entrepreneurs, business partners and consumers in one ecosystem to create new business opportunities, strengthen competitiveness and support the growth of Thai products in ways that generate economic, social and environmental value.
Now in its fourth consecutive year, Thailand Local SDGs Plus Expo 2026 builds on the BCG development concept introduced in 2023 and aims to expand market access for community products, strengthen local businesses and enhance the competitiveness of community enterprises and SMEs nationwide.
The initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Ministry of Commerce’s vision:
“Empower and Optimise Commerce plus Sustainable Growth: MOC+”
The Expo features more than 200 booths and over 1,000 products from all 76 provinces, divided into six major categories:
A key business component of the Expo is the Business Matching programme, which connects local producers with department stores, hotels, corporate buyers and international trading partners.
The programme aims to generate at least THB 500 million in economic value, supporting entrepreneurs in expanding their distribution networks and developing long-term business partnerships.
The Expo also provides inspiration and practical knowledge for younger generations through panel discussions under themes such as “Sustainability Begins in Everyday Life,” “Sustainability Is Not a Cost, but an Opportunity,” and “Generating Income Through Sustainability.”
Participants can also join workshops that demonstrate how leftover or recycled materials can be transformed into new products.
All seminar sessions and public activities are open free of charge.
The Ministry of Commerce believes the Expo will serve as an important platform for accelerating the growth of local businesses, strengthening Thailand’s grassroots economy and demonstrating the progress Thai entrepreneurs are making towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
Entrepreneurs looking for new products and business partnerships, as well as members of the public of all ages, are invited to visit Thailand Local SDGs Plus Expo 2026 and discover the potential of Thai sustainable products.
