The project will be completed in the third quarter of this year.
The flood protection investment includes building additional pump stations, importing six state-of-the-art pumps from Sweden and much more.
Managing director Peter Kanjanapas said the company will protect Muang Thong Thani at all costs from flooding and the new six-lane road already being constructed is being prepared to counter potential floods.
Given the rise in major events being held at Impact, as well as an increasing number of businesses and home-owners moving into the area, the six-lane, five-kilometre heavy duty concrete road is being built at a cost of Bt150 million. The road is being constructed for two reasons: primarily to facilitate the flow of traffic through Muang Thong Thani, and also be a deterrent against flooding in the area, he said.
The company’s project director, Kunwadee Jintavorn, added that the new 30-ton road qualifies as a highway rather than a road as specified by the Ministry of Transport. This is a major road in Muang Thong Thani and connects traffic from Chaeng Wattana Road to Tiwanon Road passing through Impact.
“In addition, we have raised the level of the road up to 2.3 metres above sea level and dug wider ditches alongside that are some three metres deep as well as constructing an overflow system that will further enhance water flow. We are also adding moveable concrete barriers the full length of the road, which will act as a further precaution. The first phase of the construction of the road is 99 per cent complete with all construction being completed by October this year,” she said.
