Heavy monsoon rains brought misery to villagers in the mountainous northern province of Phayao on Wednesday, when flash floods swept through Muang district.

Two Phayao villages were hit by a flash flood early on Saturday after the Mao Lao River burst its banks following overnight heavy downpours.
