The leader of pro-democracy group We Volunteer (Wevo), Piyarat Chongthep, along with other guards, reported themselves to Phahonyothin Police Station in Bangkok on Saturday after an attempt to arrest them during a rally was foiled by protesters.

Pro-democracy activist Piyarat “Toto” Chongthep, founder of the We Volunteer (Wevo) network of guards for protesters, and Wevo members visited Bang Kaew Police Station in Samut Prakarn province on Sunday evening to demand the release of Thosathep “Art” Duangnate, reportedly missing since January 15.

The decision by Piyarat Jongthep and the “We Volunteer” group that he founded, also known as “Wevo guards”, on November 30 to leave the “Ratsadon” pro-democracy protesters is expected to create opportunities for other groups to become volunteer guards for the planned political rallies aimed at ousting Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha and reforming the monarch.
