Heavy afternoon rain flooded roads in western Bangkok on October 17, 2026, as a gauge in Nong Khaem recorded 102.5mm over three hours and motorists were warned away from a waterlogged junction in Bang Bon.
Bangkok’s flood prevention centre reported the Nong Khaem reading, the highest in its update, at 2.30pm. The centre said light to moderate rain remained across the Thonburi side and riverside areas, moving westwards.
Rainfall ranged from moderate to very heavy, with western Bangkok bearing the brunt of the downpours.
Bang Bon district office warned at 1.20pm that deep standing water at the Bang Bon three-way junction posed a risk to small cars and motorcycles.
The office urged those road users to avoid the junction to prevent their engines stalling.
Other reports documented disruption across western Bangkok:
- 1.28pm, Bang Khun Thian: JS100 Radio reported that a large tree had fallen onto a motorcycle near Smart Condo Rama 2, damaging the vehicle.

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) issued a one-hour forecast at 2pm for moderate to heavy rain and gusty winds in Bangkok, Samut Sakhon and Nakhon Pathom. The rain was moving slowly westwards.
Lighter rain in Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani were also reported.
- Roadside flooding and waterlogged low-lying lanes: Accumulated rainwater could exceed drainage capacity.
- Gusty winds: Branches could break and unstable structures could be damaged. Particular caution was urged near tall structures, billboards and weakened trees.
- Slippery roads and reduced visibility: Wet conditions increased the risk of traffic accidents.
