Thailand’s mega-infrastructure projects under the government’s “quick win” initiative were among the major ideas discussed by Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin during his meeting with United States APEC Business Coalition on Friday.

The meeting was part of the APEC Economic Leaders' Week event, held in San Francisco in California state, which Srettha attended along with business and national leaders of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) members.

The session on Friday was joined by representatives from the US National Centre for APEC, the US Chamber of Commerce and the US-ASEAN Business Council.

The Thai PM underscored the government’s openness to trading and investment under the “quick win” policy to boost economic growth via various measures, including stimulating domestic consumption, reducing cost of living, and promoting investment and business expansion.

Srettha then expressed the government’s commitment to push Thailand as a regional hub for commerce and logistics, adding that the government prioritises mega-projects to establish infrastructure that strengthen supply chain and logistics in the Asia-Pacific region.

One of the highlighted mega-projects is the land bridge connecting the coast of the Andaman Sea to the Gulf of Thailand, which would create a shortcut between the Indian and Pacific oceans, enhance the efficiency of global goods shipments, and reduce dependence on the congested Straits of Malacca.

Srettha said Thailand welcomes investments from the US business coalition in these mega-projects, and expects to enhance bilateral cooperation in the areas that benefit both countries, including supply chain expansion, green energy transition, and digital transformation.

“Thailand is ready to be a reliable partner in APEC’s supply chain and is committed to driving key industries for mutual benefit, including semiconductors, electric vehicles, digital infrastructure, and clean energy,” he said.

The PM added that the government would be receptive to suggestions from the US private sector regarding ways to further improve cooperation as well as measures to help promote US investment in Thailand.
