Temperatures dip in most parts of Thailand

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2023

The strong high-pressure system covering Thailand has brought cool to cold weather, strong winds, and a further decrease in temperature by 2-3 degrees Celsius in the North and the Northeast, according to the Thailand Meteorological Department on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the East and Central regions, including the Bangkok metropolitan area, will see the temperature drop by 1-3°C, it said.

People in upper Thailand should take care of their health and beware of fires due to strong winds and the dry air, the department warned.

Meanwhile, the rather strong northeast monsoon over the Gulf, the South, and the Andaman Sea will bring isolated heavy to very heavy rains to the South.

People should beware of rain accumulation that may cause flash floods and overflows, especially along foothills near waterways and lowlands, the department warned.

Waves 2–3 metres high and over 3 metres high during thundershowers are expected in the Gulf of Thailand, while in the Andaman Sea waves could be 1-2 metres high and over 2 metres during thundershowers.

People along the Gulf shores should beware of inshore surges. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers, while small boats in the Gulf should stay ashore until Sunday, the department said.
