Windy and cooler in the North, NE, central regions; heavy rain in the South

The Department of Meteorology forecast for today (November 17) indicates cooler weather with strong winds, leading to a decrease in temperature by 2-3 degrees Celsius in the North and 1-2 degrees Celsius cooler in the eastern, central regions, including Bangkok during November 17-19.

A high-pressure system or cold air mass from China has extended to cover the upper parts of Thailand, causing temperatures to drop. Continuing heavy rain is expected in the southern region, and strong winds in the Gulf of Thailand from November 17-19.

The northeastern monsoon is quite strong over the Gulf of Thailand, the southern region, and the Andaman Sea, causing heavy to very heavy rainfall in some areas. Residents in the South are advised to be cautious of flash flood risk from heavy rain.

There is also warning about strong winds in the Gulf of Thailand, with waves reaching 2-3 metres, or higher in areas with thunderstorms. The Andaman Sea might see waves of around 1 metre, or more in areas with thunderstorms. Small vessels are advised to navigate with caution during November 17-19.
