The survey was carried out by the National Institute of Development Administration among 1,310 respondents nationwide from December 12 to 20.
When asked to rate their level of happiness during the previous year, the respondents replied:
• 42.75%: Quite happy
• 27.86%: Quite unhappy
• 18.63%: Very happy
• 10.69%: Not happy at all
• 0.07%: No comment
When asked to cite issues that upset them over the past year, the top 10 reasons were:
• 58.63%: Economic woes affecting income and lifestyles
• 25.42%: Political turmoil inside and outside Parliament
• 23.13%: Cyber threats, such as call centre gangs and hackers
• 20.76%: High energy prices
• 20.23%: Pandemic
• 19.54%: Drug trafficking
• 16.03%: The falling price of commodities
• 13.89%: Crimes and lack of safety
• 11.91%: Environmental issues and natural disasters
• 10.61%: Social rifts.
