Bangkok motorists advised to monitor traffic as protesters continue rallies

MONDAY, JULY 31, 2023

Two protest groups calling themselves the “National People Council” and “World People Council” began rallying outside the Russian Embassy in Bangkok at 6am on Monday.

It is believed their cause is seeking an end to the Russia-Ukraine war.

Meanwhile, Pol Maj-General Jirasan Kaewsaen-ek, deputy commissioner and spokesman of the Metropolitan Police Bureau said “Music Artists for the People” are scheduled to protest at Victory Monument from 3pm.

These groups had rallied at the same spots on Sunday, causing traffic jams.

Hence, Jirasan has advised motorists to avoid Sap Road in Bangkok’s Si Phraya area where the embassy is located, as well as keep track of traffic conditions elsewhere in the city.

Motorists can call the traffic control centre hotline 1197 for more information.
