Thailand is hosting the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings 2026, as the global economy continues to grow, but Thailand may be hindered by continuous downside risks.

John Denton, Secretary-General of the International Chamber of Commerce, warns that persistent energy shocks could rapidly reshape supply chains. He urges Thailand to develop a skilled workforce despite the strength of its tourism industry.

Nation Group is the media partner for CNN’s Global Perspectives in Bangkok. Richard Quest told The Nation Thailand’s Franc Han Shih that political stability and resilience are key to strengthening Thailand’s competitiveness.

As for persistent downside risks to the global economy, Quest said AI will continue to boost growth, but high public debt and persistent inflation could weigh on economic growth.
