Developer Siam Piriya Development Co Ltd says the Mixt Chatuchak Shopping Centre will emphasise the longstanding attractions of the Chatuchak Weekend Market “while providing a more satisfying daily shopping experience with full facilities”.
Mixt Chatuchak is now also offering rental rates at attractive prices for the area at Bt1,000 per square metre – in order to support Thai SMEs, according to a Friday release from the developer.
The concept of “Mixt Chatuchak Selected” is to offer a wide range of unique and exclusive goods from a large number of Thai SME shops from the Chatuchak Weekend Market and from other retail markets through 700 stores and a street food-style food court featuring dishes starting at just Bt30.
Construction of Mixt Chatuchak Shopping Centre, located on 10 rai of land in the heart of Chatuchak and adjacent to the Chatuchak Weekend Market, commenced in 2017 with an investment budget of over Bt900 million.
The center consists of a five-story structure some 350 metres long and offering a total retail space of 60,000 square metres in eight zones – fashion, accessories, food and beverage, food court, home and décor, spa and beauty, souvenirs, and services.
The company’s chief executive officer Miporn Chaiyupatumpa sees strong potential in Chatuchak district as a prime new location in Bangkok that is fully prepared in every aspect. It’s an increasingly popular and growing business and office district with convenient transportation links offered by the BTS and MRT lines, said Miporn. Additionally, Bang Sue Grand Station, the largest railway station in Southeast Asia, will begin services next year and serve as an important transit hub for Thailand.
“We therefore built Mixt Chatuchak Shopping Centre to complement Chatuchak district’s ability to become a retail destination serving the demands of Thais and tourists from around the world,” said Miporn.
“We are determined to fulfill the needs of tourists who visit Chatuchak Weekend Market by providing increased comfort with a spacious parking area and complementary facilities and rest areas for shoppers who want to take a break from the hot weather; expand business operations by making Chatuchak a truly dynamic and major landmark in Thailand; and to support Thai SMEs so they can grow and sustainably contribute to the government’s Thailand 4.0 policy.”
Mixt Chatuchak will improve business opportunities from the original two-day shopping period at the Chatuchak Weekend Market by increasing the number of shops and shifting to a daily retail format which will boost sales volumes, together with promotions through online sales channels contributing to increased awareness, he added.
