Index Creative Village given Thai Pavilion

Event organiser rewarded for efforts in Shanghai

Index Creative Village, a leading integrated event organiser, has been awarded the management contract for the Thailand Pavilion at Expo 2012 in Yeosu, South Korea.
“The Bt260-million construction and design project was finalised by the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources of the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry last month,” Kriangkrai Kanjanapokin, co-chief executive officer of Index Creative Village, said yesterday.
The pavilion will be on 560 square metres of the first floor of a building in the Pacific Ocean zone of the international exposition, which will be held under the theme of “The Living Ocean and Coast” from May 21 to August 12 next year.
Kriangkrai said the company won this project after successfully organising the Thailand Pavilion at Shanghai World Expo 2010. That project also opened up opportunities for the company to expand its business portfolio to management of museums and permanent exhibitions locally and overseas.
The firm now operates Sunny Bangchak Solar Farm in Ayutthaya, Siriraj Medical Museum, a museum in Phuket, and the Thailand Pavilion in a permanent exhibition in Zaozhuang, in eastern China’s Shandong province. This new business will generate revenue of Bt580 million next year and should double revenue in 2013.
The firm expects 30-per-cent growth in revenue this year to Bt2.18 billion, up from last year’s Bt1.67 billion. Of that, 75 per cent comes from private clients and the rest from government bodies.
“With this impressive growth and development, the company was recently ranked as the world’s No 7 event company, up from eighth last year, by Special Events magazine,” Kriangkrai said. This ranking is calculated from event companies’ annual income.
Speaking as president of the Event Management Association, Kriangkrai said: “This year is the golden year for event organisers in the Kingdom despite prolonged flooding in many provinces at the moment.”
The total event industry is expected to enjoy a 20-per-cent surge over last year’s Bt13.05 billion mainly thanks to three big events starting in the current fourth quarter. These are the BoI Fair 2011 at Impact Muang Thong Thani from November 1-15, the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek in Chiang Mai from November 9 to February 15, and the celebration of the 84th birthday of His Majesty the King in December.
However, Kriangkrai said that with 56 provinces hit by natural disasters, business in general, including event organising, would be substantially affected into early next year.
