Nantawan Sakuntanak, director-general of the department, said the programme encourages businesses to boost their performance in logistics and also helps them enhance their management capabilities – the key focus of the ministry in order to improve logistics performance in the nation.
This year, DEP used a more refined standard of evaluation in accordance with international frameworks, namely the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and the Supply Chain Operation Reference model. Both of these frameworks have been used in prototyping performance evaluation in many countries such as the European Quality Award and Japan Quality Award. Therefore, the awards this year have more value because they meet international standards.
After evaluating the competitors on seven key factors – business mission and leadership, strategic planning in logistics, market and customer management, ICT applications in logistics, human resource management, logistics process and operation management, and finally key results from logistics – the 12 judges settled on three winners:
-SCG Logistics Management won the ELMA for Large Integrated Logistics Service Provider;
-Hazchem Logistics Management won the ELMA for Small and Medium Integrated Logistics Service Provider;
-JWD InfoLogistics won the ELMA for Warehousing and Storage Solutions Provider.
The awards were presented at the Thailand International Logistics Fair held recently at Bitec Bang Na.
