With three plants in Chachoengsao and Samut Prakan, Toyota Motor Thailand will halt production until Oct 15 as both provinces are being threatened by the deluge of water from the North. The biggest automaker followed the footstep of Honda Automobile (Thailand) of which assembly plant in Ayutthaya was heavily damaged by floods.
Located in Rayong, Ford Motor's auto production plant will be suspended for 48 hours on supply disruption due to flooding in Ayutthaya, a key home to the suppliers in the automotive and electronics industries.
"As some suppliers operating in Ayutthaya province have been affected, production was suspended at our AutoAlliance Thailand facility this morning for the next 48 hours to make a full assessment of inventory and logistics continuity," Ford said today in an e-mailed statement.
In a statement to the Tokyo Stock Exchange, Fujikura, an electronics company, also said that it halted production at three plants in Ayutthaya. Production at another plant in Pathum Thani was temporarily halted to confirm the safety of workers.
Camera maker Nikon has also suspended the plant in Rojana Industrial Park since Oct 6. All 300 factories in the industrial park were damaged by floods.
