SCB President Kannikar Chalitaporn said that the bank has prepared for this since the second quarter and it has devised plans to help clients, flood victims in general and employees.
Aside from debt rescheduling and other loan relaxation, it prepares the Bt10 billion fund. It will also extend assistance through the Thai Bankers Association. All affected clients are welcomed to notify Call Centre 02-777-7777 which is manned 24 hours.
For flood victims in general, the bank's donation account has attracted donations worth over Bt50 million. Since August, the fund has been used to buy and distribute 30,000 life support bags, 40 fibre boats and 200 life-support jackets. The fund is also used to repair 150 houses and build 150 new houses, as well as repair schools and assist shelters.
Over 10,000 employees of the bank and subsidiaries are also assisted in terms of temporary shelters and flood prevention.
"SCB is committed to extend comprehensive assistance to the affected clients in all corners of the country. All are assured of normal transactions in this tough time," Kannikar said at a press conference today.
The bank revealed that over 300 clients with plants in Ayutthaya, Pathum Thani and Samut Prakan are affected by the floods, excluding about 2,000 SMEs.
