Oishi Group plans to launch two or three new chains of Japanese-style restaurants next year.

Paisal Aowsathaporn, vice president of Oishi Group, said the new brands would add to the group’s existing portfolio of 125 restaurants under five major brands: Oishi Buffet, Oishi Ramen, Oishi Express, Shabushi and Nikuya.
“The launch of the new restaurant brands is aimed at serving rising demand among Thai consumers and the growth potential of the Japanese-restaurant market in Thailand, which expands by not less than 15 per cent per annum on average,” Paisal said.
He said the company planned to invest Bt450 million to open about 30 new restaurant branches next year, of which 15 would be Shabushi, five Oishi Ramen, two Oishi Express, three Kazokutei and five Nikuya. Oishi has a franchise agreement with Kazokutei, a restaurant company based in Japan.
“We expect the purchasing power of Thai consumers in the post-flooding situation to improve significantly by the first quarter of next year, driven by the festive season and the large number of official holidays,” Paisal said.
Oishi yesterday launched its “Oishi … Brings Back Happiness to Thais” campaign, which will cost Bt30 million and is aimed at presenting an image of a return to a more pleasurable life after the major floods. Customers who register can dine for free throughout the day on December 11 at all branches of Oishi Buffet and Oishi Express in Bangkok and adjacent provinces. Prior registration is required on December 10 from 11am to 3pm on the sixth floor of Siam Discovery Centre.
