SET welcomes membership application

From Jan 1, securities companies with business licenses from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) are welcomed to apply for the exchange's membership.

In line with the liberalisation in the brokerage industry, from next year there would be no limit in the number of brokerage houses, said Pakorn Peetathawatchai, chief marketing officer of the Stock Exchange of Thailand.
"The exchange has accordingly revised the membership rules, to open the doors to others. This will help expand investor base and inspire competition in service quality which will benefit investors. This will also support the greater competition and trading linkages with other bourses," he said.
The exchange now has 49 members.
OSK Securities (Thailand), a unit of OSK Investment Bank Bhd, Malaysia, earlier this month won the broking license from the SEC.
