Worapol Sokatiyanurak, secretary-general of the Securities and Exchange Commission, said today that listed companies during a discussion on infrastructure fund have shown huge interest in the scheme. Four proposals have been submitted to the SEC so far, covering two funds to finance power plants, one to finance a renewable energy project, and one for a water management project. Each of them would require a fund of about Bt3-Bt4 billion.
"We expect that throughout next year, the number of funds would reach 10 with required fund mobilisation of about Bt40 billion," he said.
He expected the four funds to be launched gradually next year.
From the discussion with 69 listed companies, it is found that infrastructure funds to finance alternative energy and communications projects are underway. Some state enterprises also plan to raise funds through the scheme.
