Leader brings winds of change to KTC

With just one glance, many people can notice how active and energetic the new CEO and president of Krungthai Card, Rathian Srimongkol, is. The physician-turned-finance executive didn't wait long to revamp the cost structure and has already made two manag

Rathian said these management reshuffles included job rotations to put the right persons in the right jobs, and to fit with the new organisational structure that promotes an “end-to-end” work process through clustering some work and eliminating redundancies.
Two executives have been brought in from outside KTC – one to take charge of the contact centre and quality assurance, and the other to be the head of operations.
“I came here with only one secretary and a driver. There will be no more outsiders arriving [besides the head of operations and the chief of the merged contact centre and quality assurance unit],” he said.
On the human resource management, Rathian said KTC staff were capable, dynamic and adaptive to change. The only trait that should be enhanced is the “sense of ownership”.
“[Staff] must feel that this is their second home that they also own. If there’s anything wrong, they must dare to give advice. Everyone must know about other people’s jobs and realise that the organisation’s success doesn’t come from one person,” he said.
Rathian said he would promote open communication and discourage hierarchies.
“Everyone knows that I have a private Facebook account. When one is doubtful or frustrated, he can send a message to me. If it’s true, I will solve it. If it's not, I will explain it,” said the straight-talking chief executive.
Rathian has spent most of his career in various fields of banking and finance. He also serves as the vice chairman of Indorama Ventures and used to sit on the board of state-owned telecom firm TOT, where he was the board’s spokesman.
